A customer portal
your customers run themselves.
Your customers update a card, switch plans, pause and download invoices from one page with your name and logo on it, without writing to you. And when someone goes to cancel, they see your offer to stay first.
The everyday requests, handled without you.
Each action is a switch in your settings, so the portal only ever offers what you allow.
Update a card
A new card goes straight into your payment provider's own secure form. If a payment was waiting on it, collection picks up again.
Change plan or seats
Customers see the full math before they confirm: the credit for the time left, the new charge, and what is due today.
Pause and resume
A customer who needs a break takes one, instead of cancelling, and starts billing again when they are back.
Invoices and receipts
Every invoice to view, pay or download as a PDF, with the paid ones kept as receipts.
Apply a promo code
A code you have set up goes onto their own subscription, and the next invoice shows the discount.
See their usage
On a metered plan, customers see how much they have used this period before the bill arrives.
Ask why, then offer a reason to stay.
A customer who goes to cancel picks a reason from your short list, then sees one offer: a pause, a discount, or a note to get in touch. Cancelling is always right there on the same screen, so it stays honest and quick.
- Your own list of reasons, and the answer saved on every cancellation
- One offer, set up once: a pause, a coupon, or a note to contact you, with every accepted offer counted
- You choose whether a cancel takes effect at the end of the paid term or right away
Nothing is charged while you are away. Resume whenever you are back.
A link, a button in your app, or a window inside it.
The hosted page
Send customers the link. They type their email and sign in with a six digit code or a one-click link. No passwords to set or forget.
From your own app
Customers already signed in to your product go straight to their billing, no second sign-in. Send them to one task, like updating a card, and back to your app after. From Grow.
Embedded
Open the portal as a window inside your product with a small script, only on the web addresses you allow. From Grow.
It looks like part of your product.
Your name, logo and colour
Everything on the page carries your business, so customers know exactly where they are.
You decide what it allows
Plan changes, cancelling, pausing, promo codes and usage each have their own switch. Only the plans you mark as available appear.
Help one click away
Your support email sits in the footer and in the cancel flow, so a customer with a question knows where to go.
Questions, answered.
How do customers sign in to the portal?
With their email. The portal sends a six digit code and a sign-in link, and either one signs them in. There are no passwords to set or reset. A customer can use the email on their customer record or the email of any of their active contacts.
What can customers change on their own?
Whatever you switch on: change plan or quantity, cancel, pause and resume, enter a promo code, and see their usage. Viewing and paying invoices, downloading PDFs, and updating their billing details and cards are always available.
Do customers see what a plan change will cost before they confirm?
Yes. The portal shows the credit for the time left on the current plan, the charge for the new one, and the amount due today, before anything is charged. You choose which plans appear as options.
What happens when a customer tries to cancel?
They pick a reason from your list, then see one offer to stay if you have set one up: a pause, a coupon, or a note to contact you. Cancel is always on the same screen. You decide whether a cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid term or right away.
Can I put the portal inside my own app?
Yes, from the Grow plan. Your backend creates a portal session through the API and sends a signed-in customer straight to their billing, or to one task such as updating a card. You can also open the portal as a window inside your product, on the web addresses you allow.
Does the portal carry my brand?
Yes. It shows your business name, logo and brand colour, and your support email in the footer. Serving it from your own web address is part of the Scale plan.
