A Maxio alternative that starts at $39, not $599.
Maxio, the platform formed from Chargify and SaaSOptics, sells to finance teams that need billing and revenue recognition together, from $599 a month on an annual agreement. Teams evaluate yRecurring when they need the billing half at a price that fits before the finance function exists, with every amount explained.
Maxio is a finance suite: billing, revenue recognition, SaaS metrics and reporting, sold on annual agreements with a stated starting price of $599 a month for up to $100,000 in monthly billings. yRecurring is the billing engine, hosted, priced monthly, with the portal, recovery and usage billing included and a calculation receipt behind every number. Revenue recognition is not part of it.

Where Maxio is the better fit
- You need revenue recognition and SaaS metrics in the same system as billing.
- Your finance team wants one vendor on an annual agreement with implementation services.
- You are past $100,000 a month and buying for the finance function, not the product team.
Where yRecurring differs
$39 a month at launch, $99 up to $100,000 a month, no annual agreement. The plan you join at is the plan you pay for.
Sign up, connect your gateway, create a plan and share a checkout link; there is no implementation project between you and your first invoice.
Every yRecurring amount links to its calculation: the formula, the inputs, each intermediate step.
Prices per million tokens, prepaid credit wallets and passthrough with markup are first class citizens of the pricing engine.
Questions teams ask
Does yRecurring do revenue recognition?
No. It produces the invoices, payments and credit notes and exports them in open formats; recognition schedules live in your accounting tool. If you need recognition inside the billing system, Maxio is the better fit.
Can I bring my Maxio data with me?
Yes. Export your customers, subscriptions, and invoices from Maxio as CSV and use the AI assisted import: it maps the columns, cleans up messy values, shows you a dry run of exactly what will be created, and only writes after you confirm. Historical records never trigger emails to your customers.
Does yRecurring charge a percentage of my revenue?
Plans are flat: $39, $99, or $299 per month, banded by how much you bill through the platform. If you grow past your band mid month, the overage is capped at the next tier's price, so the most a growth month can cost you is the plan you would upgrade to anyway. Your effective rate falls as you grow. Above the Scale band, pricing is custom.
Is yRecurring a merchant of record?
No. Your customers pay through your own payment gateway accounts (Stripe, PayPal, Braintree, GoCardless, and more), so the money and the gateway relationship stay yours. yRecurring is the billing engine: subscriptions, invoices, recovery, and reporting.
